PETALUMA PEOPLE SERVICES CENTER
PARATRANSIT SYSTEM GUIDELINES
We will make every attempt to get you to your appointments on time. However,
Paratransit door-to-door service is a ride-sharing system and rides are shared
to serve more people whenever possible. For that reason, ADA allows trips to be
scheduled up to an hour before or after the requested time in order to make it
easier to link trips.
Due to an increase in our ridership and the increased traffic, Petaluma People Services
Paratransit has established a list of guidelines for our clients.
It is imperative for smoother service that we all adhere to these guidelines.
-
Pick-ups will generally be scheduled at 20 minute intervals. Please be ready
at least 5 minutes before your scheduled pick-up time.
-
If you are more than 10 minutes late, we will ask you to reschedule
your ride for another time.
-
Please have the correct fare or your rider card ready when you
board the bus. The fare must be paid on the day of the ride unless arranged
with the office in advance. Fares are $2.00 each way, $4.00 for the round
trip and $24.00 for a rider card good for 12 rides.
-
Drivers are not permitted to enter your residence. Please
do not ask the driver to retrieve personal items or to carry items
beyond your front door.
-
All reservations must be scheduled through the office. The drivers
cannot take ride requests .
-
Drivers are not able to make any unscheduled, extra trips.
When you make your ride request, please tell us if you need more than one stop,
so we can put it into our schedule. In any case, any extra rides are an additional fare.
PETALUMA PEOPLE SERVICES CENTER
CUSTOMER SERVICE AGREEMENT
In compliance to the City of Petaluma Services Agreement July 1995, Petaluma People Services
Center will deliver the following services for riders of the paratransit buses:
-
Drivers will wait five minutes for late passengers before leaving for the next pick-up. Passengers cannot expect assistance in personal care such as dressing, grooming or housekeeping chores to expedite their preparation for travel. If you are not ready for your return trip at the appointed time, the driver will go for the next pick-up and you can call when you are ready. Due to our schedule, you may have to wait longer for your return, but the driver will be back as soon as possible.
-
Drivers will assist passengers to and from the bus as needed.
-
Drivers will stand at the door of the bus to assist passengers embarking and disembarking the vehicle in order to prevent falls.
-
Drivers will carry no more than four shopping bags to the entrance of a house and will place inside entrance.
-
Drivers will pick up passengers at a hospital, convalescent hospital or residential care facility in the lobby. Drivers will not go to nursing stations or patient's room to pick-up or deliver passengers.
-
Drivers will expect passengers boarding from convalescent hospitals to have correct payment for the trip or to present a rider card before
boarding.
-
Rides will be "trip linked" and passengers will be prepared to travel up to one hour before and after appointments as stated in ADA regulations.
Passengers must be prepared to share rides with other people.
-
PPSC may deny travel for one month to passengers who have up to three NO SHOWS during the previous two months.
